Deborah Giarratana
Founder / ProducerOver the last 18 years, Deborah has been at the forefront of the emerging Visual Effects and Animation industry. She began building business for Pacific Data Images, the pioneering CGI company that later became Dreamworks Animation. She then went to work for James Cameron’s company, Digital Domain and brought in millions of dollars of revenue up through the release of TITANIC.
In the last seven years, Deborah has produced new film business for Sony Pictures Imageworks, one of the leading visual effects and animation companies in the world. SPI is known for the SPIDERMAN franchise, THE POLAR EXPRESS, MONSTER HOUSE, SUPERMAN and was involved in producing the visual effects for the blockbuster THE LION, THE WITCH AND THE WARDROBE. This past year, Deborah was involved with GHOST RIDER, BEOWULF and Will Smith’s upcoming film, I AM LEGEND for Warner Brothers.
Along with her film partner, Robin Guthrie (HOW TO LOSE A GUY IN 10 DAYS), Deborah has created GG Filmz to develop and produce film & TV projects. Most of their projects are based on award-winning books and graphic novels. Books by Kaye Gibbons, developed as a feature film and starring for Michelle Pheiffer, THE SURROGATE at Fox, and most recently, RUNNER by award-winning comic book creator, Jim Krueger, at Fox Atomic.
In the last year, Deborah as optioned the life rights to the Rev. Sam Childers story. Sam is a present day hero in hell, former biker gang member turned preacher, who is courageously rescuing child soldiers and other orphaned children in the war-torn rebel territory of northern Uganda. Deborah brought in Thomas Nelson who will publish Sam's book and distribute internationally for release summer 2008.
Prior to her work in the entertainment industry, Deborah was on staff for 8 years at Grace Church of Kendall, in Miami, Florida, as an associate pastor overseeing the singles ministries mobilizing them to get involved on a global level. She orchestrated local & international outreaches. She arranged multiple trips to Honduras, Costa Rica, Columbia, the Bahamas and Jamaica.
